Union Foundations: November 4, 11, 18

You’re invited to Union Foundations, at Dance Union on Thursdays in November! This is not an official “Blues Union Weekly Dance” reopening. Rather, these are small-group events designed to rebuild our community.

COVID SAFETY
To keep the groups small, there will be 2 time slots each evening, with a cleaning & airing-out protocol. There will be 10-13 people in the space at a time, with a 30 minute buffer for us to perform our cleaning protocols. Proof of vaccination will be required, and masks will be required except when actively eating or drinking. There will be a designated eating/drinking area, near the open windows; otherwise please remained masked and do your best to not unmask near others while eating / drinking. The space also has a new HEPA filter system.

SIGN-UP TO ATTEND
If you’d like to attend, please sign up in advance here: https://forms.gle/nBk4zT1sRUxqCzY38

EVENT DESCRIPTION
There will be food, drink, games, and other activities on the premises, and music will always be playing. This will be a time for connecting with people we haven’t seen in awhile or people we haven’t gotten a chance to know yet–through chatting and/or dancing–you can choose how much you’d like to do of each of those.

If you are interested in sharing some music with the group, please let us know in advance and come prepared with a device that can connect to an AUX cable or an appropriate adapter. If you are interested in sharing food or drink, please clearly label all ingredients of anything you bring.

Cost will be $10. If this creates a barrier for you, please reach out to us!

There will be an event Nov 4, 11, and 18th, with one group at 7-8:30pm and another 9:00-10:30pm.

Note: For the safety and well-being of the community, in advance of this event please be especially diligent in your adherence to the CDC guidelines, which recommend wearing masks in public indoor spaces and remaining masked if indoors with unvaccinated people.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact BostonBluesUnion@gmail.com.

We are excited to see you at Dance Union!

**Note from the venue owner**
Vaccination information will be required of ALL who come to any event at Dance Union. We will require to see the vaccination card before you enter the studio. You may upload a photo during sign up instead.
The card will be required only ONCE as the information will be kept on file and there will be no need to show it every time. This information will be kept confidential.
PLEASE adhere to the protocols. Refusal to present vaccination information will result in you not being allowed to participate in our events.

Queer, Black,& Blues Trivia Night + Fundraiser (8:00-10:30pm EST)

Join us for a night of trivia on queer, Black, and blues history, as a fundraiser for the National Black Justice Coalition!

Questions will be about Blues, LGBTQ+ History, Black History, and where they intersect.

This night is a fundraiser for the National Black Justice Coalition, a civil rights organization dedicated to the empowerment of Black LGBTQ+ people. Learn more at https://nbjc.org/.

Blues Union will be matching donations from the night, up to $250. Donate here: https://paypal.me/pools/c/8zYROoSmWd

Form a trivia team of 2-5 people. Use this as an opportunity to connect with old friends and make a few new ones! (We’ll give you time at the beginning of the event to form a team if you don’t have one by then.)

The winning trivia team will win the glory of being announced on Blues Union’s Facebook page ❤

June Anti-racism Actions Check-in (8:00-9:15pm EST)

Monthly check-in on personal goals related to combatting racism.

We check in on what we each did last month for anti-racism actions & then set our goals for next month. Each person sets their own goals, but can get help from the group if needed (can be around work, neighborhood, personal education/growth, family, dance, etc.).

The group goal is to help us all stay on track or get back on track with our anti-racism work, and to be in community around these actions.

Everyone is encouraged to join, regardless of whether you joined the previous months or not and whether you met your goals or not ❤

If you don’t have an idea for what to set as your goal/actions, we have a suggested action!

Virtual Anniversary Party: May 27

Happy 12th anniversary to Blues Union! To celebrate this year, we’ll have several special dance performances–some blues and some from our extended dance family, some local pals and some friends from afar–and then we’ll close out the night with a set of live music from Willie. J Laws! https://www.williejlawsband.com/

Feel free to dance, cook, draw, or just chill & hang out during the live music. We appreciate you any of the ways. ❤

As usual, this is a pay-what-you-can event; we want this to be financially accessible to everyone. ALL donations and any profits from the night will go to the performers (dancers and musician). Tickets are available here.

The event will likely run from about 8-9:30pm, with some leeway for dancer time and unexpected technology behavior. 🙂
