Thursday, June 9

This week features Chris and Amanda Mayer with:

Waltz Rhythms in Blues (7:30-8:30)
This month is a sampler that’s all about the music! Every week different instructors will cover a different type of blues music and how to dance to it. For week 2, Chris and Amanda will cover a distinctly European influence on the blues.

Blues Basics + Beginner Clinic (8:30-9:30)
This weekly drop-in class is designed for new-to-blues dancers or anyone wanting to focus on the fundamentals. It will provide enough moves to have fun on the dance floor, as well the opportunity to hone and polish the core techniques behind the dance. Each week, we’ll cover something new, so you can come every week, or just drop in for a class or few. This class includes the beginner clinic, where you can work on your dancing one-on-one with instructors and advanced dancers.

We have a special guest DJ! Rachel Stirling will be spinning tunes to give you your Blues fix all night long.

As always, the lesson is $5 and the dance is an additional $5.

This month is a sampler that’s all about the music! Every week different instructors will cover a different type of blues music and how to dance to it. For this first installment, Julie and Forrest will focus on looking cool when the tempo is fast.

Another series wrapped up, and another Clinic is upon us:

Blues Clinic (7:30-9:30)
The Blues Clinic is an opportunity to work one-on-one with our Blues Union instructors and to work with your friends and peers. Music plays in the background as people work together, and the instructors move around the room, working with people one-on-one or in couples. When not working with instructors, people work with peers, dance with each other, try new things they’re working on, or try things the instructors have helped them with. You can work on material from that month’s series class, workshops you took recently, or anything you like! From 8:30-9:15, we have our Blues Basics class as usual, while the clinic continues in the rest of the room.

Plus, we have live music in store! Sonny Jim Clifford is a local blues guitarist who will be featured at this year’s Sweet Molasses Blues. And of course, we’ll be going till midnight for the occasion.

As always, the lesson is $5, and since there’s a band, the dance is $10.

Thursday, May 19

We have one more installment of momentum goodness from Julie Brown in:

Partner Conversation during Momentum (7:30-8:30)
Building off of our fundamentals in creating and using momentum, we’ll start working on ways followers can express themselves and ways leaders csn create a connection conducive to that.
