Thursday, July 5

This month we’ll be exploring cool topics and dances:

Deep Dives (7:30-8:30)
with Mike Legenthal
For this series, each week will dive into a different topic. More details coming soon.

Blues Basics: Jukin’ A (8:30-9:30)
with Joey Science and Charlene Chow
This drop-in class is designed for new-to-blues dancers or anyone wanting to focus on the basics! No experience or partner required! Each week, we’ll learn a new dance from the Jukin’ family: fishtail, mooch, grind, and figure-eights will all get covered.

Mike Legenthal and Amy Blank will be behind the DJ booth to whet your Blues appetite.

As always, the lesson is $5, and the dance an additional $5.

Thursday, June 28

We’ve got one more week of this month’s series, and this time with a special guest star:

Artistry (7:30-8:30)
with Julie Brown & Mike Grosser
We spend a lot of class time working on technique. This month, it’s time to focus on artistry! What stands out to you in the music? Why might you make a particular styling choice at a given moment? How do you develop your own style? Come explore these questions and more.

Blues Basics: Struttin’ & Improvisation (8:30-9:30)
with Julie Brown & Mike Grosser
This month, each week covers a different topic. Some weeks, we’ll work on Struttin’–a close embrace dance great for mid-to-uptempo blues–and work on close embrace connection, footwork, and zippy turns. Other weeks, we’ll learn how to listen to the music, find your own basic, and build a beautiful dance to any style of blues music.

Julie Brown and Don Coverdale will be behind the DJ booth for all your Blues needs.

As always, the lesson is $5, and the dance an additional $5.
