This week we have more vintage Blues awesomeness from Joshua Boroff and Devona Cartier:

Slow Drag (7:30-8:30)
Slow Drag is by far the most useful of all the vintage blues dances; you can use it for any blues song, any tempo. The simplicity of the basic step allows you to focus on body movement and connection in class, and musicality and improvisation …out on the dance floor. We will also be teaching a number of moves to round out your vocabulary and make any dance a fun time! Like lindy hop, blues dance originated and evolved from African rhythms and movements, though some of the particulars of frame, rhythm, and connection can be different.

Beginner Crash Course (8:30-9:00)
This will be a weekly feature designed to introduce novices to Blues dancing. It will provide enough vocabulary to have fun on the dance floor. Plus, when students feel comfortable with this material, they’ll be ready for the Series classes.

Serving up some damn fine Blues will be Chris Mayer and Steve York behind the DJ booth.

As always, the lesson is $5 and the dance is an additional $5.

Awesomeness (7:30-8:30)
Devona and Joshua have their own special brand of awesomeness, and they’ll be sharing some of their secrets. More details to follow shortly.

Another series has wrapped up, so it’s time for another Clinic! This month we have some special guests:

Blues Clinic (7:30-9)
During Blues Clinics we gather as many instructors as we can for personalized instruction. Students dance with instructors and get individual feedback on their dancing. Music plays continuously in the background, and students are encouraged to social dance and give each other feedback while not dancing with instructors.

Dan Repsch (of Philadelphia) and Jenny Sowden (of NYC) will be on hand at the Clinic and behind the DJ booth. They’ll be sure to rock the house, so you don’t want to miss this!

As always, the Clinic is $5, and the dance an additional $5.

This is the last week of some solo Blues goodness, courtesy of Julie Brown and Jenn Martinez:

Solo Riffin’ (7:30-8:30)
One of the beauties of the Blues is you can dance it solo as well as partnered. In this series we’ll start by building a solid vocabulary, and then show you how to use it, the music, and your fellow dancers to inspire even more creativity.
