Thursday, August 4

This month connection is the series theme, and we’re doing something a little different with it. Each week will be taught by a different instructor pair. Kicking it off will be Shawn Hershey and Jenn Martinez with:

Closed Position (All Levels, 7:30-8:30)
We’ll explore how the connection can be used to enhance your connection with your partner and your musicality. In addition, we’ll use both the jookin’ and ballroomin’ styles to explore how the connection is affected by each.

Beginner Crash Course (8:30-9:00)
This will be a weekly feature designed to introduce novices to Blues dancing. It will provide enough vocabulary to have fun on the dance floor. Plus, when students feel comfortable with this material, they’ll be ready for the Series classes.

To keep you dancing all night will be Steve York and Gui Cavalcanti behind the DJ booth.

We’ve dropped the class prices back to $5, and as always, the dance is $5.

Thursday, July 28

We just wrapped up another series, so it’s time to practice:

Blues Clinic (7:30-9)
During Blues Clinics we gather as many instructors as we can for personalized instruction. Students dance with instructors and get individual feedback on their dancing. Music plays continuously in the background, and students are encouraged to social dance and give each other feedback while not dancing with instructors. There is also a long beginner lesson running throughout, making the Clinic perfect for introducing newcomers to Blues Dancing.

Ready to care of your Blues needs will be Stephen York and Julie Brown behind the DJ booth.

As always, the Clinic is $5, and the dance an additional $5.

Thursday, July 21

Come catch the final week of Jookin’ with our own Joshua Boroff and Devona Cartier:

Jookin’ (All Levels, 7:30-8:30)
The music is hot. Rhythmic. Guitars and harmonicas are flyin’. What are you gonna do? Get close? Show off? Dig down. Shake it. How do you dance to the music of the Jook Joint, the rent party? Memphis? Beale Street? Chicago? That’s it, move those hips.
