Thursday, May 26

Last week we wrapped up another month of series, and now is the perfect time to practice. That’s right, it’s time for another Clinic:

Blues Clinic (7:30-9)
We gather as many instructors as we can for 1.5 hours of personalized instruction. Students dance with instructors and get individual feedback on their dancing. Music plays continuously in the background, and students are encouraged to social dance and give each other feedback while not dancing with instructors. There is also a long beginner lesson running throughout, making the Clinic perfect for introducing newcomers to Blues Dancing.

For your Blues enjoyment, Stephen York and Devona Cartier will be behind the DJ booth.

If you registered for an entire series (beginner or intermediate), the Clinic is included in the price. As always, the Clinic is $5, and the dance an additional $5.

Thursday, May 19

Come catch the final week of Devona Cartier and Joshua Boroff showing us how to work solo movement into a partnered frame:

Solo Moves in Partnered (Beginner Series, 7:30-8:30)
Using some solo blues vocabulary, we focus on how to dance together, to a wide variety of music and tempos, and how the feel of a song might influence things like rhythm and style. In addition to partnering skills we will incorporate “break-a-ways”, moves that can be done apart, or in open position. We will play lots of music and give you plenty of time to practice. Get comfortable moving your body in the blues aesthetic. I mean you have to move your body to move your partner’s right?

Beginner Crash Course (8:30-9:00)
This will be a weekly feature designed to introduce novices to Blues dancing. It will provide enough vocabulary to have fun on the dance floor. Plus, when students feel comfortable with this material, they’ll be ready for the Beginner Series classes.

Amy Kucharik and Julie Brown will be behind the DJ booth, ready to meet all of your Blues needs.

The Beginner Series class is $7 for students and $10 general admission, the Crash Course is $5, and as always, the dance is $5.
