This is going to be a big week everyone! Sweet Molasses is finally here, and Blues Union is 5 years old. Naturally, we have a lot planned, starting with:

Stylin’ Hips and Torso (7:30-8:30)
We’ve covered the limbs, so this week we’ll be wrapping up our styling series with our core. Our special guest instructor Rachel Stirling (all the way from Portland, OR) will show us cool moves and movements for the torso and hips. Here’s Rachel rocking it in a recent solo comp: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Y475I03Ix4#t=168

Blues Basics + Beginner Clinic (8:30-9:30)
This weekly drop-in class is designed for new-to-blues dancers or anyone wanting to focus on the fundamentals. It will provide enough moves to have fun on the dance floor, as well the opportunity to hone and polish the core techniques behind the dance. Each week, we’ll cover something new, so you can come every week, or just drop in for a class or few. This class includes the beginner clinic, where you can work on your dancing one-on-one with instructors and advanced dancers. This week it will be taught by Rachel Stirling.

And that’s not all, folks! Amy Kucharik will be playing live for our dancing pleasure. She’s a local favorite, she rocked Sweet Molasses last year, and she just put out a CD full of awesome original music.

Paul Loschak will be DJing during band breaks to make sure the Blues keep coming your way.

But, wait, we’ve got more! Blues Union will be holding a Solo Riffin’ competition. Nothing big or scary, just a fun way to play off of your fellow dancers or cheer on your friends. Anyone is welcome to enter! Tapout prelims will occur at 9, during the beginner clinic. Finals will occur during a band break.

Because it’s a special occasion, we’ll be going till midnight.

As always, the lesson is $5, and since there’s live music, the dance is $10.
