We’ve got an exciting event in store this week. New series, live music, and great food! It all starts off with:

Competition Series (7:30-8:30)
with Joey Science & Kelly Pavao
A hush falls over the crowd and you and your partner step out onto the open floor. Exciting? Terrifying? Both? We’ll break down the in’s and out’s, the up’s and down’s, and the do’s and dont’s of competing. We’ll discuss practicing, prelims, finals, and spotlights in both a strictly and a mix-and-match competition setting. You’ll also get our experienced perspective from both sides of the clipboard. (No partner necessary.)

Blues Basics: Struttin’ (8:30-9:30)
with Julie Brown & Zach Brass
This weekly drop-in class is designed for new-to-blues dancers or anyone wanting to focus on the fundamentals. No experience or partner required! This month, the classes will cover the basics & variations for struttin’. Struttin’ is a dance originally from Memphis, danced all or mostly in close embrace, with cool footwork and occasional turns. It’s a comfy and relaxing way to dance to mid-to-up-tempo guitar blues styles!

Plus, we’ve got a band making their Blues Union debut! ‘They become Dirt’ is code for ‘Jesse Armerding and assorted cohorts playing in a musical mud puddle’.

Jesse is a fellow dancer who has sat in a number of times with us before, and has put this band together specifically to play for dancers.

Not to be out done, Steve York, our volunteer coordinator extraordinaire, is putting on a pancake night for us!

As always with live music nights, the lesson is $5, and the dance is $10.
