This week we’re serving a different kind of spice for your dancing in:

Extended Topics: Drama! (7:00-8:00)
with Jenn Martinez
You know those songs that have that growly trombone, or the squeaky soprano sax… jazz-blues has so much potential for intensity and for statement. These classes are designed to be multi-level, so whether you’re an advanced-beginner or a 10-year-veteran, we’ll be offering you ways to make your dancing really suit those rises and falls of jazz-blues. This week we’ll continue to push our shapes and explore ways to bring out the drama potential within our own movement.
Level: Advanced beginner to masters

Blues Basics: Jukin’ A (8:00-9:00)
with Zach Brass and Charlene Chow
This drop-in class is designed for new-to-blues dancers or anyone wanting to focus on the basics! No experience or partner required! This month focuses on Jukin’, a sub-style of blues dances that were danced in juke joints, house parties, and other small social spaces. Danced to guitar, harmonica, and piano-based blues, this style has greater independence between partners. We’ll work on getting great hip movement, working on the Fishtail, Mooch, Grind, Figure-8s, and Slow Drag.

Amy Kucharik and Don Coverdale will be behind the DJ booth to to satisfy your Blues cravings.

As always, the lesson is $5 and the dance an additional $5.
