There’s one more chance to get silly for style’s sake with Jenn Martinez and Forrest Rogers-Marcovitz:

Being a Goofball (7:30-8:30)
There is a lot to be said for silliness. It can entertain, and it can inspire. Whether you’re looking to have more fun on the dance floor, or further develop your own style, exaggeration is a great artistic tool. In this series we’ll use fun exercises and games to help release your creativity. Come prepared to laugh and to get weird!

Blues Basics + Beginner Clinic (8:30-9:30)
This weekly drop-in class is designed for new-to-blues dancers or anyone wanting to focus on the fundamentals. It will provide enough moves to have fun on the dance floor, as well the opportunity to hone and polish the core techniques behind the dance. Each week, we’ll cover something new, so you can come every week, or just drop in for a class or few. This class includes the beginner clinic, where you can work on your dancing one-on-one with instructors and advanced dancers. This month it will be taught by Jenn Martinez and Forrest Rogers-Marcovitz.

Julie Brown and Paul Loschak will be behind the DJ booth to whet your Blues appetite.

As always, the lesson is $5 and the dance is an additional $5.

We’ve had a series on flow, and the Dirty Water exchange. Now, we’re back with Clinic time:

Blues Clinic (7:30-9:30)
The Blues Clinic is an opportunity to work one-on-one with our Blues Union instructors and to work with your friends and peers. Music plays in the background as people work together, and the instructors move around the room, working with people one-on-one or in couples. When not working with instructors, people work with peers, dance with each other, try new things they’re working on, or try things the instructors have helped them with. You can work on material from that month’s series class, workshops you took recently, or anything you like! From 8:30-9:15, we have our Blues Basics class as usual, while the clinic continues in the rest of the room.

As always, the Clinic is $5, and the dance an additional $5.

As part of the Dirty Water Lindy and Blues Exchange 2015,
Boston Swing Central and Blues Union present the opening dance featuring Albanie & Her Fellas!

A native of Monroe, Louisiana, Albanie Faletta was in her formative years exposed to the local dance music of Louisiana: the sounds of cajun, zydeco, blues and gospel musics at festivals and backyard parties. Shortly after relocating with her family to San Marcos, Texas at the age of nine, Albanie began taking guitar lessons and developing an interest in acoustic-roots and electric blues, punk rock, and hair metal. Albanie began her love and study of early American Jazz as a freshman in highschool in Wimberley, Texas, when she was exposed to the Parisian Romani guitarist Django Reinhardt. Listening fervently to recordings of Reinhardt, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Fats Waller, and other such great figures of jazz, she began to develop her feel for swing. Soon she was performing alongside mentors and other players of the Austin scene where she lived and performed in the years after high school. In the summer of 2013 Albanie relocated to New Orleans, Louisiana, where she is currently living and performing with various traditional jazz and swing ensembles.

Cuisine en Locale will also have delicious locavore food and a full bar for purchase. So don’t eat before the dance….
