Thursday, January 25

Because we had to cancel at the beginning of the month, we’re holding a make-up week instead of the usual Blues Clinic. Come catch the final installment of:

One-step and Two-step Blues (7:30-8:30)
with Ruth Evelyn and Julie Brown
Discover the intricacies and artistry of one-step and two-step in the blues era, as we delve into these two ballroom blues dances. We will work on leading and following effortlessly, and how to dance expressively in both roles.

Blues Basics: Jukin’ B (8:30-9:30)
with Ruth Evelyn and Julie Brown
This weekly drop-in class is designed for new-to-blues dancers or anyone wanting to focus on the fundamentals. No experience or partner required! This month, we’ll focus on Jukin’, a sub-style of blues that was danced in juke joints, house parties, and other small social spaces to guitar, harmonica, and some piano-based blues. We’ll build our repertoire of hip movements & variations, with the Slow Drag, Messaround, Funky Butt, Four Corners, and Rocks.

Amy Kucharik and Amy Blank will be behind the DJ booth to keep you dancing all night.

As always, the lesson is $5 and the dance an additional $5.
