This month we’re celebrating Black History Month! All profits from the month will be donated to Black Lives Matter Cambridge. Join us as we kick off with:

All Levels Sampler on Blues History & Culture (7:30-8:30)
with Mike Legenthal
This month, instead of the Intermediate+ class, we’re offering classes open to all levels on various topics regarding blues culture, music, and history! Each week will be a different teacher & topic. The first installment will be a lecture on blues history and context.

Blues Basics: Ballroomin’ B (8:30-9:30)
with Julie Brown & Clayton Jennings
This weekly drop-in class is designed for new-to-blues dancers or anyone wanting to focus on the fundamentals. No experience or partner required! This month, we’ll focus on Ballroomin’, a sub-style of blues dances that were danced in ballrooms to jazz-blues. The first 2 weeks, we’ll work on close embrace and some cool moves, while learning Savoy Walk. The last 2 weeks, we’ll work on our close embrace connection and lag, through Ballroom-style Slow Drag.

Julie Brown and Steve York will be behind the DJ booth to scratch your Blues itch.

Plus, each week will feature 2 different blues musicians. Our DJs will feature an artist in their sets, and information on them will be posted to our Facebook page. Our first featured artists are Billie Holiday and Bobby “Blue” Bland!

As always, the lesson is $5 and the dance an additional $5. Donations will also be welcome.
