It’s the last Blues Union of the year, and we’re spending it in style! It all starts off with:

Old School Cool Footwork (7:30-8:30)
with Mike Legenthal
Looking to recharge your creative batteries? Let’s take inspiration from some vintage clips, and learn some shiny new (to us) footwork! And of course, all this footwork will be perfect for Professor Harp’s sound, so you can keep playing all night long!

Blues Basics: Struttin’ & Improvisation (8:30-9:30)
with Julie Brown and Jenn Martinez
This month, each week covers a different topic. For the first week, we’ll learn how to listen to the music, find your own basic, and build a beautiful dance to any style of blues music. Then, we’ll work on Struttin’–a close embrace dance great for mid-to-uptempo blues–and work on close embrace connection and zippy turns.

Plus, we’ve booked an extra-special live band: Professor Harp! The Professor is in a word a powerhouse. His singing and harmonica playing are unique while being deeply rooted with earlier Blues masters such as Muddy Waters, Little Walter, George Smith et al. As the old adage goes “All great artists are profoundly influenced by great artists.” That’s just the way it is.

And of course with the live music, we’ll be going till midnight!

As always the lesson is $5, and the dance will be $15 at the door.
