December is a short month at Blues Union, but we’ve still got plenty of good stuff in store! It all starts with:
Blues Clinic (7:30-8:30)
with Joey Science
The Clinic is an opportunity to work with your friends and peers in exercises designed by Blues Union instructors. Each Clinic will feature one instructor. Music plays in the background, and people work together as said instructor guides them. People can also work with peers, dance with each other, try new things they’re working on, or try things the instructors have helped them with in the past. You can work on material from that month’s series class, workshops you took recently, or just come to social dance.
Blues Basics: Struttin’ & Improvisation (8:30-9:30)
with Grey Ruffin
This month, each week covers a different topic. For the first week, we’ll learn how to listen to the music, find your own basic, and build a beautiful dance to any style of blues music. Then, we’ll work on Struttin’–a close embrace dance great for mid-to-uptempo blues–and work on close embrace connection and zippy turns.
Mike Legenthal and Don Coverdale will be behind the DJ booth to get your Blues groove on.
As always, the lesson is $5, and the dance an additional $5.
